Ancestral superfood

Long before chocolate, there was cacao.

A naturally rich bean, consumed for centuries for its depth, energy and place in traditions across the Americas.

Theobroma cacao — ‘food of the gods’

What is ceremonial cacao?

Pure cacao, nothing more.

At Animistā, ceremonial cacao is a 100% pure cacao paste with no added sugar, dairy or additives. The cacao butter remains naturally present, creating a richer, fuller drink that stays closer to the bean.

It is minimally processed to preserve as much as possible of cacao’s natural richness: its body, aromas and naturally occurring compounds.

Why drink cacao?

The best superfood in the world.

Energy. Focus. Heart. Mood. Antioxidants. Plenty of reasons to love one little bean.

Focus & cognition

Cacao is more than comfort. Its flavanols are studied for their connection to cerebral blood flow and certain cognitive functions — a strong foundation for a focus ritual.

Heart Medicine

Rich in flavanols, cacao gets a lot of attention for its connection to vascular function. We like to call it Heart Medicine — not as a drug, but as a food we choose to keep close to the heart.

Mood & wellbeing

Cacao naturally contains small amounts of anandamide — the famous “bliss molecule” — and PEA, two compounds associated with pleasure and wellbeing. One reason a cup of cacao can feel so special.

Natural energy

Theobromine is a stimulant distinct from caffeine, often appreciated for a steadier-feeling energy and gentler focus.

Antioxidants

Yes, cacao checks the antioxidant box too: it is naturally rich in polyphenols, including flavanols. Some processes, such as alkalization, can substantially reduce them.

Ancestral heritage

Cacao, between tradition and ritual.

Long before the chocolate industry, cacao already held an important place in several cultures across the Americas. It could be shared, offered and included in social, ritual or sacred moments.

Animistā draws inspiration from this relationship with cacao: preparing it with care, drinking it with presence and respecting where it comes from.

Artisanal, ethical & traceable

Quality starts at the source.

Animistā selects origin cacao from identifiable terroirs, handled with care while favoring artisanal methods and processing that respects the natural character of the bean.

Our approach favors partners and supply chains that value producers’ work, support local communities and maintain a more direct and transparent relationship with origin.

Understanding the Difference

Ceremonial cacao vs commercial cacao

Not all cacao is created equal. The more you strip away, refine, alkalize and blend, the further you move from the bean. Animistā ceremonial cacao goes the other way: minimally processed, whole, traceable and carefully selected — to preserve more of what cacao naturally has to offer.
